Car Boot Sale goes ahead

Good evening everyone. The car boot sale tomorrow morning – July 20th – is on. The field has been checked and it is fine.
Times are 7am for sellers and 8am – 12 noon in Clarence Park. The cost per vehicle is £10 car; £2 for a trailer and £15 for a van/car sideways. Entry point is off the Denby Dale Road (on the same side as the Bandstand – banners and stewards will be on the roadside to assist) and the postcode is WF2 8DY. Exit onto Park Avenue. Items for sale should be second-hand. No knives or weapons. See you there!

Clarence Park Festival – Shockwaves is nearly here!
Hope you’re all ready & prepared for Clarence Shockwaves 2025!The annual free music festival run by Wakefield Music Collective is held at the Bandstand in Clarence Park (Denby Dale Road WF2 8EB) on Saturday 26-27 July from 12 noon to 9pm.
AGM on Monday 14th July
Don’t forget that the 2025 Annual General Meeting of the Friends of CHaT Parks will be on Monday 14th July at 7pm in the upper meeting room at the Holmfield Arms. All members of the Friends are cordially invited to the meeting and non-members are very welcome to come along. You can join at the meeting too. There will be the Chairman’s report, voting and the chance to talk and discuss future plans and ideas for the park.

Classic Vehicle Gathering in Thornes Park 2025

The classic vehicle gathering for 2025 in Thornes Park is up and running, with already some wonderful vehicles. Come down and enjoy this wonderful event – and say hello to the Friends of CHaT Parks stall while you’re passing! The event will run from 4pm to dusk and it’s free for spectators.
Tennis Holiday Camps in Thornes Park
More dates for your diary. The Wakefield School of Tennis will be holding holiday camps in August for children to learn about playing tennis at the tennis courts in Thornes Park. The sessions are in the morning – 10am to 1pm – and run from Monday August 4th to Thursday August 7th and from Monday 18th to Wednesday 20th August. Summer events in the Park
Summer is always a busy time in the park, so here’s some more dates for your diaries.
On July 4th the Classic Vehicle Gathering will be in Thornes Park from 4pm to dusk. More details on our Events section.
On July 5th, there’s the RSPCA Summer Fun Day and Dog Show in Clarence Park, from 11-4pm, with the Dog Show at 12 noon.
Clarence Park Shockwaves Festival is on the weekend of 26-27 July at the Bandstand in Clarence Park from 12 noon to 9pm.
On Saturday 2nd August, the annual Wakefield Pride Festival will be holding a new full day of big-name live music acts in Thornes Park from 10am to 9pm. Tickets available at:
