The Friends of CHaT Parks has been formed to protect and preserve the heritage of the Parks and to make positive plans for their future.
The Group is independent of the Council and has set itself these aims and objectives;
• To protect, create, develop and improve CHaT Parks as an amenity for Wakefield.
• To encourage high standards of maintenance of the Parks and their facilities.
• To stimulate public interest and engender a sense of civic pride in the beauty, history and character of the Parks.
• To encourage wider use of the Parks by all sections of the community.
What do Friends do?
The Friends Group provides a voice to speak up for Clarence, Holmfield and Thornes Parks in Wakefield.
The Group aims to attract investment for the parks that the Council and other agencies cannot access.
The Friends Group does not do the work of the Council, but rather acts as a watchdog to ensure that the Council and other agencies maintain, protect and develop the parks for the residents of Wakefield.
We will offer offers opportunities for people to show their support for the Parks in Wakefield and act as volunteers if they wish to do so.
The Friends Group will work to ensure that the parks are well used and provide a safe environment for all park users.
We will work with the Council and others to prepare a comprehensive Park Enhancement Plan which sensitively guides future development of the Parks.
The Group will deliver projects that make the park more attractive to the community of Wakefield both independently, and in conjunction with the Council and other groups.
