On Sunday 4th Dec 2011 a community tree care event took place in Thornes Park.
The groups taking part included The 17th Scout Group from Outwood, Friends of CHaT Parks and The Tree Wardens Voluntary Group who were able to supply Hi-Viz vests, gloves and tools.
The large trees were pruned around the base of the trunks to open up the view through the trees, remove litter traps and allow the trees energy resources to go up into the canopy.
In just two hours the group removed a large amount of branches to a nearby composting area.
Well done to all involved.
