The Friends of CHaT Parks are celebrating their 10th anniversary with a week-long schedule of fun and activities for all the family. Starting on Saturday 20th July, there will a Community Fair, showcasing all the groups and activities in the Park this summer, including displays by the Junior Gym Club at 1.30 and the Stanley Starlight Majorettes at 2.30 and guided tours of Lowe Hill – the castle in the Park – by historian David Weldrake at 1.30 and 2.30pm. There will be inflatables on the field and the miniature railway will be running all afternoon.
Our Games of Thornes – putting, pitch and putt, bowls and tennis will be 2-for-1 all week and can be booked at the ticket office.
The final weekend sees the Wakefield Music Collective presenting their 28th Clarence Park Festival Celebration on Saturday and Sunday with bands and djs. Finally from 3.00–6.00pm on Sunday afternoon, the African United Society & Japanteh Women’s Community Event will be holding an afternoon of dancing and children’s games on the Main Field, Thornes Park.
